December 16, 2013
Princeton Cemetery Commission
Meeting – Monday December 16, 2013
Town Hall Annex
Minutes
January 24, 2014

Present: Lou Trostel, Lynne Grettum, Paul Constantino, Bruce Rollins

The meeting was convened at 7:07 pm

The minutes of the November meeting were accepted with no corrections.

Wreaths Across America Program
The caravan arrived at the school in a grand parade. The principal and students enjoyed a great program. Compliments to all. The wreathes have been well placed on the proper monuments and will be left in place until Spring. We want to thank the school/Principal Mary Cringin for doing such a good job. Lynne will write her a note on our behalf.

Superintendent Job Search
We will restart our candidate search efforts in January.

Operations
The rebuilt gates for West Cemetery have been finished and will be installed in the Spring.     There were no burials or lot sales.
The flags have been taken down and the lights turned off in all cemeteries for the winter.
Bruce noted that there are two dying trees at North Cemetery that need to be taken down.

Budget planning for next year
We expect to be able to submit an essentially level funded budget for next year as requested by the Town Administrator with only a small increase to reflect the increase in the pay rates implemented this year for the superintendent and his helper.

Capital requests should be minimal as Bruce expects to get one more year out of the big mower purchase in ’96 for about $8k.
We should begin our detailed planning for next year at our January meeting.

Surcharge OKs
The question was raised “Do we need the Selectmen’s OK to implement the $200 surcharge on late Saturday burials that we agreed to at our last meeting?” Lynne will check this out.

The next meeting of the Cemetery Commission will be Monday January 27 at 7 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:08 pm.
